Ron Scott

His latest CD, Amour, is his heart-felt tribute to France and its capital, where he moved two years after receiving a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Columbia University……The leader’s soulful and sinewy alto and soprano sax lines sing and swing on the recording’s straight-ahead, ballad, bossa nova, Latin and African moods and grooves.

Thomas

Here is another upcoming show that jazz aficionados have circled on their calendars: T.K. Blue saxophonist and flutist par excellence with a hard-driving, lyrical style: multi-instrumentaiist and composer focused on exemplifying pan-Africanism and thc diasporic sweep of musical cross influences extant inAmerica 's Great Musical Idiom; composer-arranger who molded his artistry while learning from some of the 20th century's most venerated musical figures.
– Thomas Staudter, The Gazette, June 2022

Ron

“Blue brings a smooth foot tapping beat to Wayne Shorter’s “Infant Eyes” leading the charge on soprano saxophone as drummer Eric Kennedy lends a persuasive undercurrent. “Amour” boasts 11 tracks riding on Blue’s wave of creativity that brings his unforgettable journey to life. ”
– Jazz Notes by Ron Scott, New York Amsterdam News, May 2017

Sandra

His mastery of the instrument is evident in every note, and his ability to create a complex and challenging rhythm while still maintaining a melodic and smooth sound is truly impressive. The saxophone solo in “Never Felt This Way” is a perfect example of how the instrument can create a wide range of emotions. At times, the saxophone is soft and gentle, creating a soothing and relaxing atmosphere. But at other times, it becomes more intense, building up to an exciting and exhilarating climax. “Never Felt This Way” by T.K. Blue is a stunning jazzy soft song that showcases the saxophone’s versatility and beauty.
– Sandra, Indie Boulevard, April 2023

James

“Blue’s voice on alto is highly distinctive. Whether on his main horn, soprano, or flute, he inflects everything he plays with ebullience”
– James Hale, Downbeat

Seton

For many, the multi-reed virtuoso T.K. Blue rose to prominence through his three- decade collaboration with Randy Weston. Indeed, T.K.'s efforts proved indispensable to Weston's vision, as the saxophonist drew upon the full range of music of the African diaspora to craft some of the most striking music in modern jazz with Weston. In his solo projects, T.K. has held this same ethos, embracing musical traditions of Senegal, crafting Afro-Cuban takes of Charlie Parker's material, and even incorporating instru- ments like the Chinese pipa.
